The first Kentucky State Fair took place in 1902 with the goal to promote the
commonwealth and to provide a place where agriculturalists and hobbyists could
share ideas and techniques. To enhance the State Fair's exhibits, competitions
were developed to determine the best, biggest and brightest.

Bring the actual items to the Kentucky Exposition Center in early August (actual
drop-off dates are in Premium Book). Many departments are judged before the Fair
starts.
